A Sinkhole Rescue Showing the True Meaning of Social Sustainability

In a recent incident in Singapore, our migrant workers became unexpected heroes.

A car plunged into a sudden sinkhole in Singapore, it wasn’t emergency services that arrived first but the migrant workers from the nearby construction site. Armed with only a rope and courage, they saved a woman’s life within five minutes.

Human Element (Social Pillar of ESG)

These workers often unseen and unheard showed the very essence of social sustainability:
✅ Courage
✅ Community-mindedness
✅ Quick action to protect life

Broader ESG Message

Corporate ESG isn’t only about frameworks and reports — it’s also about people.

ESG must be embedded into organizational culture and to care for people at every level.

What Can We Learn?

Do we empower frontline workers to take initiative?

Do we prioritize health, safety, and training?

Do we celebrate human dignity and social cohesion?

ISO 45001 — the International Standard for Occupational Health and Safety

✅ Identify and control safety risks
✅ Strengthen ESG strategies
✅ Align safety practices and governance framework
